$ I am having some problems using the FlightStick Joystick from CH Products
$ with the GUS. I have no other Game Cards or Game Ports in the system but
$ I'm having trouble Calibrating the Joystick in games like IndyCar Racer
$ from Papyrus. The angle type of calibration works. Any help will be

I have one, too. For games that have this problem, I pre-calibrate it
using Gravutil, then start the game and go through its calibration (if
any). Star Control ][ has a problem with the joystick being too far
off-center, and won't work unless I pre-center it with Gravutil.
I find that 'ultrajoy 32' also helps, even though Gravutil says use
something like 0.3.
Speaking of this, I also have a Gravis Analog Pro. This is a dog of a
joystick. I was really disappointed. The construction is flimsy, and the
top button sticks in its recess. In fact, it's stuck there now and I
cannot get it out without breaking the handle!

Subject: CoolEdit & stereo?
I think i may have seen something about this earlier, but I don't have
time to pay attention to talk about programs i don't even have, and as I
didn't have CoolEdit at the time...
Ok. CoolEdit is really nice. BUT it doesn't record stereo right. I
know it's not my windows settings or my gus settings, as i've recorded
it just fine out of windows, and even with that SoundRecorder. It
sounds all choppy, as though it's screwing up the interleaving of the
stereo data or something. Any suggestions? Just wait for the next
version?

To the guy trying to run Doom under OS/2:
I setup the game under OS/2 according to the instructions given in the
readme file; it worked without a glitch. Maybe you'd want to
double-check your DOS-session settings?
Alan.

I get the same behaviour with MegaEm.

However, I've had no trouble so far with SBOS. I get both (weird sounding)
FM music (yup, weird. I've tried it with a real SB and it sounds quite a bit
different (and better)) and sound effects.
The MegaEm music is considerably better. It sure would be nice if the
sfx worked. *sigh*.

Subject: Joystick problem
I use Gravis Ultrasound as my joystick port. There is something wrong ,
because gravutil says my joytick's button #2 is down even if I don't have
joystick connected. When I have joystick plugged in , button #2 is always
down. My computer is IBM PS/2 model 35 SX and I have Ultrasound
at 220,1,1,11,7 (default) . And I don't have any other cards than modem and
guys. Please help me with this problem quickly !

Ah, yes. It was only a matter of time until we found out what it was. It
seems to be patch 122 (seashore) that makes those rotten XWING engine
noises. I don't know why the seashore patch sounds so different at 8 bit
than at 16 (what more is it than a bunch of looped fuzz? ;) ). Sure
enough, I went into the cakewalk demo for dos while using megaem, I loaded
up the JARRE4.MID...Yuko....I still haven't been able to find a good
replacement for the engine noise. Maybe the applause patch that the welder
uses...Ah, well. Have fun....
